WINNIPEG (May 18, 2022) – Canada’s racquetball community will be gathering in Brossard, Québec next week for Racquetball Canada’s National Championships. The event, which runs from May 24 to 28, marks the first championship event held since May of 2019 that will include all age and skill divisions.
The National Championships are always the ultimate competition of the racquetball season. For elite athletes, results will be taken into consideration for selection to national teams and the team that will represent Canada at the upcoming World Championships and Junior World Championships. The National Championships also include several age and skill categories that provide everyone in the sport an opportunity to compete at their own level.
All of Canada’s top ranked athletes have entered the tournament including Québec’s Samuel Murray and Frédérique Lambert. Murray is currently ranked 5th on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) and Lambert is the top Canadian women’s athlete. Top ranked male athletes include Coby Iwaasa (Lethbridge), Trevor Webb (Cambridge), Kurtis Cullen (Brandon) and Lee Connell (Saskatoon).
