Start in Racquetball: My father has been playing racquetball since he was a young boy. I would go to the club to watch him play and to hit balls into the court when it was free. At about the age of 8 I decided to go play and to practice more seriously.
Reason for playing: I play racquetball because I love the competitiveness it gives me even though I am not a very good loser. Secondly, the sport has allowed me to travel extensively at the provincial, national and international levels. Finally, it has allowed me to make a lot of friends and meet a lot of new people.
Training habits: I go to the club to train 3 or 4 times a week either to hit balls with my coach or to play games.
Best Racquetball moment: My best moments are when I manage to win a tournament. But all my world junior championships have been the best experience of my life.
Non Racquetball talents: Beyond racquetball I have a great ability to perform in various sports.
When you are not playing racquetball, you are probably? When I’m not playing racquetball, there are 3 main things that occupy my time, either studying or doing school work, or sitting on the couch watching TV and finally, the vast majority of the time I spend my days with my friends.
What advice do you have for athletes who want to play at your level? Be determined to perform, always believe in your abilities and always try to have fun.
Who has been important in your development as an athlete? My coach Michel Gagnon is one of the factors that got me to where I am today. Even with my little mood swings, he has always been there to help me perform well in my tournaments. Also, if it wasn’t for my father, I wouldn’t be the player I am today. He has always been there to support and encourage me. Finally, he has always taken the time to play with me so that I could improve.
