2025 World Junior Championships Underway

(SANTA DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC) December 6, 2025 – Competition for Team Canada is underway at the 2025 International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Junior Championships in Santa Domingo.The tournament which kicked off today runs until December 13 and will showcase top junior talent from 14 nations.

Eleven athletes from Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Québec are representing Canada in World Cup Competition. Each qualified for their spot on the team by finishing in the top two in their age divisions at the Racquetball Canada National Championships held last May.

The team is led by long-time national team coach Michel Gagnon of Longueuil, QC, along with Racquetball Canada’s High Performance Director, Jennifer Saunders of Winnipeg, MB. Several athletes are also supported by their parent-coaches, who have travelled with the team to Santo Domingo.

Other Canadians competing at the World Junior Championships include Nathan Buller (Grande Prairie, AB), Oren Gouldie (Brandon, MB), and Elie Guillemette (Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, QC). All three are participating in the Esprit Cup, an open event for younger developing athletes.

The International Racquetball Federation will be live streaming matches beginning Tuesday through the tournament on their Facebook Page and YouTube channel. As well PanAm Sports will be broadcasting on their online channel.
