Raphaël Guillemette has been competing at the junior national level since 2015. He consistently reached the podium in the younger age categories and in 2021 qualified for the junior national team after winning silver in Boys’ 14U Singles and gold in Boys’ 14U Doubles. In 2023, Guillemette returned to the podium, winning gold in Boys’ 16U Singles. He repeated his gold medal performance at the 2024 National Championships, winning the Boys’ 16U Singles division for the second consecutive year. After moving up to the 18U age category, he captured silver in Boys’ 18U Singles at the 2025 Junior National Championships and repeated the result in the same division in 2026. Guillemette has also represented Canada at four World Junior Championships, earning bronze medals in Boys’ 14U Doubles in 2021, 16U Mixed Doubles in 2023, and Boys’ 18U Doubles in 2025. In 2025, he won his first elite national medal, earning bronze in Men’s Open Doubles with his partner and father, Francis Guillemette, and followed it with a fourth-place finish in the same division at the 2026 National Championships.

Q&A

Start in Racquetball : My father played when I was young, so I started playing.

Reason for playing : I play racquetball because it’s my favourite sport, because I like the intensity of the games and I like individual sports.

Training Habits : I train four to five times a week.

Favourite Racquetball Memory : When Chloé and I won a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the 2023 World Junior Championships.

Non-racquetball talents : I am good at physics.

When you are not playing Racquetball you are probably: I’m probably working or with my friends.

What is something that people might not know about you?  I dream of becoming an airplane pilot one day.

What is your advice for other athletes? Be prepared to do a lot of training.

Who has been important in your development as a racquetball athlete? My parents, because they gave up a lot of their time to get me to the racquetball club, which was important, because without them I wouldn’t have been able to train as much.
