Michel Gagnon and Rino Langelier were recently recognized by the Coaching Association of Canada and Petro-Canada as recipients of the 2022 Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award.
These prestigious awards recognize coaches whose athletes have excelled at world championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games, and at the Special Olympics World Games. The Coaching Association of Canada and Petro-Canada honour these recipients before their peers at the annual Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala.
Frédérique Lambert, Michèle Morissette and Coby Iwaasa, who are coached by Gagnon medaled at the 2022 World Championships held this past August. Samuel Murray, who is coached by Langelier, also was on the podium. Lambert and Morissette won bronze in Women’s Doubles, Iwaasa and Murray won bronze in Men’s Doubles and Lambert and Murray won silver in Mixed Doubles. Along with the silver won in the Men’s Team Event, these are the best results for Team Canada in a decade.
Recipients of the Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award are some of Canada’s most outstanding national team coaches. These coaches have dedicated their time and efforts to ensuring that athletes reach their potential on the international stage.
