ERIC EASTON

The 2004 Ivan Velan Award was awarded to Eric Easton for his long time service to racquetball in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. He has been an instrumental force in keeping racquetball alive in his province, and Easton’s dedication and tireless efforts are unsurpassed in the country and only matched by a few.

Easton has participated in racquetball for over 30 years, beginning in 1972. He has been a member of his provincial association executive board for almost 20 years, including representing his province on the national board, has coached in the both the Newfoundland and Canada Winter Games, has served as coach of the junior provincial teams, is a Level 3 referee, has won over 10 provincial singles and doubles titles, and this year played in his 21st Nationals (his first was 1976), winning his division 5 times, and this year he finished second in 55+ singles.
