WINNIPEG, Manitoba (March 3, 2024) – Canadian racquetball fans had a full weekend of sports viewing with Canadians Kurtis Cullen and Kane Waselenchuk advancing to the finals in International Racquetball Tour (IRT) events at the McNamara Hall of Fame 2024 Tournament in Minneapolis. As well, Frédérique Lambert and Juliette Parent played in the Ladies Pro Racquetball Tour (LPRT) events at the Boston Open.
Waselenchuk faced Conrrado Moscoso of Bolivia in Sunday’s IRT final, winning in two games with scores of 15-13 and 15-3. This is Waselenchuk’s first final since returning to the tour late last November after suffering a serious Achilles injury in September 2022. Waselenchuk, originally from Edmonton, lives in Austin, Texas.
Cullen partnered up with Rodrigo Montoya of Mexico at the Minneapolis event, advanced to the final against Adam Manilla (USA) and Andree Parrilla (MEX). Unfortunately, with the score tied at 3 in the first game, Montoya rolled his ankle and the team had to withdraw from the match. Cullen is a member of Racquetball Canada’s national team and lives in Brandon, Manitoba.
Lambert (Montréal, QC) and Parent (Saint-Jacques) lost a close tie-breaker match in doubles in the round of 16, and lost their respective round of 16 singles matches.
