Pedro Castro Hangs Up the Racquet for Baseball

Racquetball Canada would like to thank Pedro Castro for the years of commitment and dedication he has given to our sport. Pedro recently announced that he would be retiring from racquetball to focus on a career in baseball. He had been selected to the Chilean national team that will compete at the next South American Championships and the 2023 Pan Am Games.

For those who know Pedro’s sport story, he has always been a two sport athlete, balancing his time on the ball diamond with his time on the racquetball court. He has excelled in baseball and has been playing competitively with a team in Québec. Being named to the national team in Chile is a dream come true.

As a member of the national team Pedro represented Canada at 7 international events, including 1 world championship, 5 Pan Am Chammpionships and the 2015 Pan American Sports Festival. He won bronze in doubles at the 2016 Pan Am Championships.

At the national level, Pedro was on the podium 7 times at the elite level. He has a Men’s Open Double Canadian Championship title, and also won silver twice and bronze 3 times in doubles. Pedro also had success in Men’s Open Singles nationally, with many top 5 finishes and a podium finish with a bronze medal.
