WINNIPEG (August 24, 2022) – Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Lambert of Montr\u00e9al and Sam Murray of St-Hubert have advanced to the Mixed Doubles final at the World Championships being held in San Luis Potos\u00ed. The Canadians defeated Bolivia\u2019s Conrrado Moscoso and Jenny Diaz Navia, 11-7, 11-9, 11-9 in Wednesday\u2019s semi-final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lambert and Murray faced the Bolivian team earlier in the week during the preliminary round but lost. The Canadian\u2019s were able to put that loss behind them to come up with a solid win to move on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was a very fun match,\u201d said Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Lambert. \u201cSam is an amazing partner. I think we played great when it came to the important points.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sam Murray said, “I’m glad we came back strong in Mixed Doubles after having some tough doubles matches earlier in the day. We showed our character and we are ready for the final!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the first time since 2014 that a Canadian team has played in a gold medal match at the World Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lambert also played in the Women\u2019s Doubles semi-final today with Mich\u00e8le Morissette of Baie-Comeau, but the two lost to their opponents from Argentina. Murray also teamed up with Coby Iwaasa of Lethbridge in Men\u2019s Doubles but they were defeated by the team from Bolivia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lambert and Murray’s match should be streamed on the International Racquetball Federation Facebook Page and YouTube Channel. It is scheduled for 7:00 pm Central, however times are subject to change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Canada enters the Team Competition phase at the World Championships beginning tomorrow. The tournament concludes on Saturday, August 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
