When we understand how and why girls play we can help every young athlete stay in sport, reach their potential, and remain active long after the competitions end. With this new e-module from <em><a href=\"https:\/\/womenandsport.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Canadian Women &amp; Sport<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, you\u2019ll learn how to bring a gender lens to sport and reflect on how your decisions can impact people differently. More importantly, it will help you make policy and program decisions to better serve women and girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In taking this e-module you\u2019ll build your understanding of key equity and inclusion concepts, learn how embracing gender equity can make your sport better for all involved, and leave with tools that will help you apply a gender LENS in day-to-day decisions.&nbsp;<em>Gender Equity LENS<\/em> can be used towards NCCP professional development credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Gender Equity LENS<\/em> will launch in the summer of 2020. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/womenandsport.ca\/learning-opportunities\/e-learning\/gender-equity-lens\/\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a><\/strong> for more information about this program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Resources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many excellent resources are available to help coaches, athletes, parents and those who are offering racquetball programs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As well, there are a number of organizations whose mandate is to advocate for inclusion, diversity and equity. We encourage you to look through these resources for help with how you ensure your programs are welcoming to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canadian Women &amp; Sport (formally CAAWS)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/womenandsport.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Canadian Women and Sport<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is dedicated to creating an equitable and inclusive Canadian sport and physical activity system that empowers girls and women within \u2013 as active participants and leaders \u2013 within and through sport. With a focus on systematic change, the organization partners with governments, organizations and leaders to challenge the status quo and to advance solutions that result in measurable change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Canadian Women and Sport website&nbsp;provides many resources like publications, toolkits, case studies as well as learning opportunities in the form of webinars, workshops and e-learning modules. Visit their website section on <a href=\"https:\/\/cces.ca\/sex-and-gender-diversity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Sex &amp; Gender Diversity<\/strong><\/a> for excellent webinars and publications about transinclusion,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Canadian Sport for Life<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sportforlife.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canadian Sport for Life<\/a><\/strong><\/em> educates and informs sector leaders to enable them to better understand and deliver LTAD, quality sport and physical literacy programming. It is a national not for profit organization that consists of sport and physical literacy experts who collaborate with other Canadian institutions to create a future in which absolutely everyone has access to quality sport and physical literacy experiences. &nbsp;The following are links to key information on&nbsp;their website related to inclusion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/physicalliteracy.ca\/people-with-disabilities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Physical Literacy &amp; Athlete Development for Athletes with a Disability<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/physicalliteracy.ca\/women-and-girls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Women &amp; Girls in Sport<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/physicalliteracy.ca\/indigenous-peoples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Indigenous Peoples<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/physicalliteracy.ca\/newcomer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newcomers<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coaching Association of Canada<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/coach.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coaching Association of Canada<\/a><\/strong><\/em> offers many multi-sport training modules and campaigns that provide coaches with the information and tools to help them be a more effective coach, some of which have a direct impact on a coach\u2019s understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/coach.ca\/women-coaching\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Women in Coaching<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is a directed national campaign to increase&nbsp;the number of coaching opportunities for women at all levels of sport. The <em>Women in Coaching<\/em> program includes provides women with coaching and mentoring opportunities, access to grants and partnerships and other important resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/coach.ca\/coaching-athletes-disability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coaching Athletes with a Disability<\/a><\/strong><\/em>:&nbsp;CAC has developed resources to help coaches build a positive sport experience for their athletes with sensory, intellectual, physical, or behavioural disabilities. These recourses include the NCCP e-learning module <em>Coaching Athletes with a Disability<\/em> and detailed manuals to help make programs more welcoming and impactful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/coach.ca\/aboriginal-coaching\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aboriginal Coaching Program<\/a><\/strong><\/em> contains culturally relevant materials meant to engage coaches working with Aboriginal athletes&nbsp;and empower them to make a positive, long-lasting impact in their communities. Resources include a training curriculum of three NCCP Aboriginal Coaching Module that reflects unique Aboriginal culture, values, and lifestyles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/coach.ca\/sites\/default\/files\/2020-02\/LeadingTheWay_v2017.pdf\">Leading the Way: Working with LGBT Athletes and Coaches<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/em>is aimed at coaches to help them to ensure a sport environment that is welcoming for all. Coaches play a critical role in creating a sport environment that is safe and respectful for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Girl Can Is a campaign launched by Sport England to get women and girls moving, regardless of shape, size and ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canadian Paralympic Committee<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em><a href=\"https:\/\/paralympic.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Canadian Paralympic Committee<\/strong><\/a><\/em> provides important frameworks that help organizations shape how they&nbsp;approach creating safe, welcoming and inclusive&nbsp;environments for athletes with a disability. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/paralympic.ca\/diversity-and-inclusion-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here<\/a><\/strong> to link to information about diversity and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sirc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Sport Information Resource Centre<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (SIRC)&nbsp;is a committed team of professionals dedicated to advancing Canada\u2019s sport and physical activity sector through knowledge and engagement. SIRC takes pride in driving change through research and evidence, and serving as Canada\u2019s thought leaders in sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SIRC website provides resources for a wide range of topics, including a section on Gender Equity. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sirc.ca\/gender-equity\/\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a> to link to resource section on the SIRC website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Organizations &amp; Programs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em><strong>Sport England<\/strong><\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportengland.org\/campaigns-and-our-work\/this-girl-can\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em><strong>This Girl Can<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is a nation-wide campaign to get women and girls moving, regardless of shape, size and ability. The website includes some great concepts, material and resources for those working to inspire women and girls and developing programs.<\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/egale.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Egale Canada<\/a><\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;:&nbsp;Impoves&nbsp;the lives of LGBTQI2S people in Canada and to enhance the global response to LGBTQI2S issues.<\/li><li><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/jumpstart.canadiantire.ca\/pages\/coaching-kids-of-all-abilities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jumpstart \u2013 Coaching Kids of All Abilities<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is one of the programs offered by the Jumpstart Charity. It&nbsp;is an online resource that helps coaches and youth activity leaders create inclusive sporting environments for kids of all abilities.<\/li><li><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/education\/one-team-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canadian Olympic Committee One-Team Program<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>The COC <em>One-Team<\/em> Program promotes LGBTQ inclusion and respect in schools and sport throughout the country. The COC has developed an excellent downloadable resource&nbsp;available through their webpage.<\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/youcanplayproject.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">You Can Play Project<\/a><\/strong><\/em> \u2013 seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by focusing only on an athlete\u2019s skill, work ethic and competitive spirit.<\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gris.ca\/en\/our-organization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GRIS<\/a><\/strong><\/em> \u2013&nbsp;stands for Research and Social Intervention Group, is a non-profit community organization that demystifies sexual orientation and gender identity by sharing testimonies of lived experiences.<\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ccgsd-ccdgs.org\/sports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canadian Centre for Gender + Sexual Diversity Sport Inclusion Program<\/a><\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;\u2013 This program&nbsp;aims to challenge homophobia and transphobia in athletics \u2013 to make sports a more accepting and inclusive pastime for all athletes, regardless of sexual orientation and\/or gender identity.<\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.viasport.ca\/inclusion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Via Sport<\/a><\/strong><\/em> \u2013 Via Sport has developed a&nbsp;number of resources related to inclusion in sport, including resources for Women and Girls, Persons with a Disability and the LGBTQI2S Community.<\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/theinclusionclub.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Inclusion Club<\/a><\/strong><\/em> \u2013 is an international enabling people to showcase the ability of people with disabilities through sport, physical activity and active recreation. The website provides countless resources including podcasts, webinars and resources.<\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.communityfoundations.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Community Foundations<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/em>\u2013 Community Foundations is a network of community foundations and coalitions. Among other initiatives, the organization believes that sport builds community vitality.
