BURLINGTON, ON (February 8 2026)<\/strong> \u2013 Sam Murray (St-Basile-Le-Grand, QC) and Juliette Parent (Saint-Jacques, QC) finished in top spot at the National Team Selection Event that was held in Burlington, Ontario on February 6 and 7, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Men\u2019s Open Division<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In the men\u2019s final on Saturday, Murray faced Coby Iwaasa (Lethbridge, AB) in a very competitive and close match. Iwaasa claimed the opening game 11\u20137, but Murray responded with three consecutive wins, 12\u201310, 11\u20137, 12\u201310. Both athletes delivered a fast-paced, physical performance, showcasing why racquetball is such an exciting sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The men\u2019s bronze medal match saw Trevor Webb of Kitchener, ON, take on Leyton Gouldie of Brandon, MB. Webb jumped out to an early lead, taking the first two games 11\u20133 and 11\u20135. Gouldie pushed hard in the third, but Webb held strong to edge out a 12\u201310 victory and claim the bronze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Women\u2019s Open Division<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The women\u2019s draw followed a round-robin format, with Juliette Parent finishing on top of the standings, earning a perfect record with decisive wins in every match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chlo\u00e9 Jauvin earned the silver medal, delivering a strong and consistent performance throughout the tournament. Her only loss came against Parent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Marjolaine Parent captured bronze in her second tournament back after a break from the national team. Racquetball Canada celebrates her dedication in balancing life as a new mother and elite-level competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n National Team Implications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This was the final selection event ahead of the 2026 Pan American Championships in Guatemala, taking place March 27 to April 4. The national team will be announced in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Easterns<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to the National Team Selection Event, Racquetball Ontario hosted the Easterns, an inclusive tournament welcoming athletes of all ages and skill levels. The event brought together 42 competitors from across Ontario, showcasing the depth and growth of the sport at the provincial level. Participants competed across multiple age and ability divisions, including several of Ontario\u2019s rising junior athletes who represent the future of the game.
