{"id":2422,"date":"2025-08-15T14:05:46","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T18:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/racquetballcanada.ca\/ns\/team-canada-advances-to-mixed-doubles-at-the-2025-world-games\/"},"modified":"2025-08-15T14:05:47","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T18:05:47","slug":"team-canada-advances-to-mixed-doubles-at-the-2025-world-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/racquetballcanada.ca\/ns\/team-canada-advances-to-mixed-doubles-at-the-2025-world-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Canada Advances to Mixed Doubles at the 2025 World Games"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>CHENGDU, CHINA <\/strong>\u2013 August 15, 2025. &nbsp;Team Canada\u2019s mixed doubles duo<strong>, <\/strong>Coby Iwaasa (Lethbridge, AB) and Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Lambert (Montr\u00e9al, QC), delivered a strong performance to secure their place in the semifinals at the Chengdu 2025 World Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After opening the tournament on August 14 with a win in the Round of 16 against Ireland, the Canadian pair faced higher-seeded opponents<strong>, <\/strong>Edwin Galicia and<strong> <\/strong>Gabriela Martinez of Guatemala, in the quarterfinals <strong>on <\/strong>August 15<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first game was a nail-biter, with Canada edging out an 11\u20139 win. Guatemala responded in the second game, evening the match with a 9\u201311 result. Iwaasa and Lambert came out firing in the third, dominating 11-4, and carried that momentum into the fourth game, closing out the match with a strong 11\u20138 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this win, Canada moves one step closer to the podium and will now compete in the semifinals for a chance to play for a World Games gold medal.
