WINNIPEG<\/strong> (April 7, 2025) \u2013 Racquetball Canada\u2019s national team is set to arrive in Guatemala City this week for the 2025 Pan American Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eight athletes from Qu\u00e9bec, Manitoba, and Ontario will represent Canada at the prestigious tournament, which is held annually. Leading the team are veteran athletes Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Lambert (Montr\u00e9al, QC) and Samuel Murray (Baie-Comeau, QC), who bring a combined total of 38 appearances at International Racquetball Federation (IRF) events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy to be representing Canada again at this tournament. It\u2019s been a while since I have played at a Pan American Championships \u2013 I think the last one was in 2016,\u201d said Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Lambert. \u201cI\u2019m excited to fight for a win in singles and to play mixed doubles with Samuel Murray.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lambert and Murray will be joined by seasoned competitors Kurtis Cullen (Brandon, MB), Juliette Parent (Saint-Jacques, QC), and Trevor Webb (Kitchener, ON). Making their first appearances at the elite international level are Leyton Gouldie (Brandon, MB), Chlo\u00e9 Jauvin (Terrebonne, QC), and Ofelia Wilscam (Repentigny, QC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the next Pan American Games just two years away, the results from this tournament play an important role in Canada\u2019s path to qualifying teams for the 2027 Games in Lima, Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pan American Championships will be streamed on the Pan Am Sports Channel, as well as the IRF YouTube Channel and Facebook Page. Fans are encouraged to follow Racquetball Canada\u2019s social media for updates on the broadcast schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Lambert – Women’s Singles & Mixed Doubles<\/a>
Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Lambert, the most experienced athlete on the team, will make her 20th appearance at the elite international level during the 2024 World Championships. Lambert has an impressive track record with podium finishes at four World Championships, including a silver in Mixed Doubles and a bronze in Women\u2019s Doubles at the 2022 championships and a bronze in Women’s Doubles at the 2024 championships. She also earned a bronze medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in the Women\u2019s Team Competition. Over her career, Lambert has accumulated 11 international medals, beginning with a bronze at the 2008 Pan American Championships. At the National Championship level, she has won 22 medals, and holds 6 Canadian Women’s Open Singles Championships titles and 5 Women’s Open Doubles titles.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Juliette Parent – Women’s Singles<\/a>
Juliette Parent has rapidly established herself on the international stage, representing Canada at six major tournaments since 2021. In 2024, she captured her first elite international medal with a silver in mixed doubles at the Pan American Championships. She followed that success with a bronze in women\u2019s doubles at the World Championships later the same year.Domestically, Parent is a consistent national contender, earning silver in women\u2019s singles at both the 2023 and 2024 Canadian National Championships. In total, she has reached the podium five times at Nationals across singles and doubles events.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Chlo\u00e9 Jauvin – Women’s Doubles & Girl’s 21U Singles<\/a>
Chlo\u00e9 Jauvin will making her debut at an elite international competition at the 2024 Pan American Championships. Beginning in 2021, Jauvin has represented Canada at four World Junior Championships, winning bronze in 2023 in 16U Mixed Doubles and in 2021 in the 14U Girls Singles division. Jauvin has been competing at the national level since 2015. In total, she has been on the podium six times, winning gold twice in her junior singles age division and once in her junior age division in doubles. Jauvin was the recipient of the Heather Stupp Award in 2022, which recognizes a junior female athlete for sportsmanship on and off the court.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Ofelia Wilscam – Women’s Doubles & Girl’s 21U Singles<\/a>
Ofelia Wilscam began playing racquetball at the age of five and has been competing at the Junior National Championship level since 2015. In 2018, she earned a spot on the Junior National Team and represented Canada at the World Junior Championships, where she captured bronze in the 14U Girls Doubles division. She went on to compete at four more World Junior Championships, adding another international medal\u2014a bronze in 18U Mixed Doubles\u2014in 2022. Domestically, Wilscam has reached the podium seven times in her age division at the Junior National Championships, including three gold medals in singles and one in doubles. In recognition of her excellence both on and off the court, she was awarded the Heather Stupp Award in 2023. The 2025 Pan American Championships marks Wilscam\u2019s first appearance on the elite international stage.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Samuel Murray – Men’s Singles & Mixed Doubles<\/a>
Samuel Murray is set to represent Canada for the 18th time. In 2024, Murray reached a career milestone by claiming his first World Championship title, winning gold in men\u2019s doubles. He also added a silver medal in the men\u2019s team competition. Earlier that year, he stood on the podium at the Pan American Championships, earning silver in both men\u2019s singles and doubles, along with a bronze in the men\u2019s team event.At the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, Murray won silver in both Men’s Doubles and the Men’s Team Event. In total he has won 15 medals at the international level including 2 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze. Murray has won two pro-tour events, including a Grand Slam in 2019. Domestically, he has reached the podium 20 times and holds six consecutive titles as the reigning Men\u2019s Open Singles Canadian Champion, along with six Canadian Men\u2019s Open Doubles titles.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Kurtis Cullen – Men’s Doubles<\/a>
Kurtis Cullen has shown exceptional dedication to racquetball, rising through the national team ranks. His first international appearance was at the 2022 World Championships, where he helped secure a silver medal in the Men\u2019s Team Event. Recently, he competed at the 2024 Pan American Championships, contributing to a bronze medal in the Men\u2019s Team Event. In February 2024, Cullen achieved his first podium finish on the International Racquetball Tour, winning silver in doubles. He was a also member of the 2024 World Championships team that won silver in the Men’s Team Competition later that year. At the 2023 National Championships, Cullen won gold in Men\u2019s Open Doubles and bronze in Men\u2019s Open Singles. He continued his success at the 2024 National Championships. earning another bronze in Men\u2019s Open Singles.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Trevor Webb – Men’s Doubles<\/a>
Trevor Webb first represented Canada at the elite international level at the 2018 Pan Am Championships. Since then, he has competed at two more international tournaments. Webb was a member of the team that won silver in the Men’s Team Competition at the 2024 World Championships. At the national level, Webb has medalled four times in Men\u2019s Open Doubles, winning a Canadian Championship doubles title in 2024 and 2017, and earning bronze in 2023 and 2019. His best finish in elite singles competition was fourth place.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Leyton Gouldie – Men’s Singles & 21U Boy’s Singles<\/a>
Leyton Gouldie is steadily progressing towards a place on the podium at national junior level, culminating in a gold medal in the boys’ 18U singles division at the 2024 championships. During his career, Gouldie has stood on the podium nine times at national junior level. His breakthrough came in 2022, when he won the silver medal in the boys\u2018 U16 singles division at the national championships, earning his first place on the junior national team. Later that year, Gouldie won a bronze medal in the boys\u2019 under-16 doubles at the World Junior Championships. He has represented Canada twice at the World Junior Championships and the 2025 Pan American Championships is his first elite international tournament.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Michel Gagnon – Head Coach<\/strong>
Michel Gagnon has coached Team Canada in elite international competitions over 35 times, most often serving as the Head Coach. Under his leadership, Canada has achieved numerous podium finishes, including gold medal results. Gagnon is a multiple-time recipient of the Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award and has also been honoured with Racquetball Canada\u2019s Ivan Velan Award in the coach category as well as the Coaching Award.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Rino Langelier – Assistant Coach<\/strong>
The 2025 Pan American Championships will be Rino Langelier\u2019s sixth elite international assignment as an assistant coach with Team Canada. He has supported athletes in their quest for podium finishes at both the World Championships and the Pan American Championships. Langelier is the recipient of Racquetball Canada’s Ivan Velan Award in the coach category and the Coaching Award. He has also received the Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Jennifer Saunders – Team Leader<\/strong>
Jennifer Saunders joined Racquetball Canada in 2020 as the High Performance Director, and brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the team. A well-decorated former national team member, Saunders has been inducted into both the Racquetball Canada and Sport Manitoba Halls of Fame. She represented Canada internationally on 28 occasions. Among her 19 international podium finishes, she earned a bronze medal at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games and 12 World Championship medals. Saunders holds the record for the most Canadian Women\u2019s Open Championship titles, with 11 singles and 13 doubles titles.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Jordyn Bain – Therapist<\/strong>
Jordyn Bain, MSc.PT, is a dedicated physiotherapist practicing in Winnipeg. Passionate about promoting movement and exercise, Jordyn enjoys activities such as running, strength training, ringette, golf, and baseball. She also volunteers as a coach for U-Turn Parkinson\u2019s, demonstrating her commitment to community health initiatives. The 2025 Pan American Championships marks the first time Jordyn joins Racquetball Canada’s support team.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
