Racquetball Canada Communiqué on COVID-19

Dear Racquetball Canada Members,

Racquetball Canada is very closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and is working  with our Canadian partners. In Canada the risk level remains low and no specific measures for travel, participation in sporting events or training are in place currently. As the situation is changing daily this may change. While a COVID-19 outbreak is not unexpected in Canada, our public health system is prepared to respond. PHAC, along with provincial, territorial and community partners, continues to reassess the public health risk, based on the best available evidence daily.

We are working closely with our National Team and the High-Performance Committee to ensure our athletes and coaches are not put into an unsafe situation.  As of today, we are still planning our National Championships. Registration is on hold while we wait for further information in the upcoming weeks.  We are working quickly to have contingency plans in place if the situation escalates.  The major airlines announced today that they would waive any change fees that may be necessary for travel.

In the meantime, we encourage everyone to use safe hygiene practices by washing hands prior to games or training, and if possible installing sanitizing stations near courts.  We also encourage an elbow bump or foot bump instead of the traditional handshake.

We will continue to keep you informed as we receive information.

Sincerely,

Kathy Brook
